Sunrise, Sunset, Time and a Rose on the Sand

July 24, 2018 by Mary Hamilton

It’s been a while since I posted samples of my photography. So here’s a few you might find interesting.

In May, we visited my husband’s cousin in North Carolina and spent Mother’s Day on the beach. At least two of these long-stemmed roses had been dropped on the sand at different intervals. There’s got to be a story behind that. Maybe someday I’ll write it.

If I were a fantasy or science fiction writer, this sign would inspire a story. I pass this factory a couple times a week. If you find yourself short on time, you might  check with them! ( I wonder if they have any of those round to-it’s…)

My husband and I sometimes debate which is better–sunrise or sunset? I love being out walking as the sun is peeking over the horizon. The promise of a new day, new opportunities, a fresh start…another chance to mess things up. No, just kidding on that. I love the beauty of sunrise…

But I also love a gorgeous sunset. And I think it’s appropriately symbolic that the most beautiful sunsets require clouds to reflect the colors we can’t ordinarily see. Storms may pound and buffet us in life, but without them, the beauty of a normal day would go unappreciated.

So which do you prefer? Are you a morning sunrise person? Or does a sunset start your energy pumping? Tell me in the comments.
