November 8, 2013 by Mary Hamilton

Nearly all the vacations my family took while I was growing up were spent visiting grandparents who lived 8 hours away. My paternal grandparents had a room-size rug covering the hardwood floor in their living room. The rug was prickly and scratchy, and since I usually wore a dress, it was especially uncomfortable to sit on when I wanted to play. One time, I must have complained about it. I remember Gramma Watson bringing out this towel for me to sit on. What a neat surprise! I still have the towel, though as you can see, it’s showing its age. I thought I’d better take a picture of it before it completely disintegrates.
